The normal level when full (which is very rare) is 836. As of Monday, October 31, 2005, the lake is at 826.97. This is a good time to take a boat ride around the lake. You will be able to see the docks that will soon be sitting on shore.
Remember that Lake levels are never constant. Docks must frequently be moved. But what water there is can be so much fun.
Please note that Lake Bridgeport is surrounded by cactus and Yucca. There'a a reason for this. It doesn't rain here very often but when it does rain, the storms are big and violent! If we don't get good rains by mid May, the lake will continue to drop and drop throughout the rest of the year. If we do get good rains in the spring, the lake will usually stay very muddy until July. This will present quite a problem if you have to get your drinking water from the lake. And most likely, that's where you will have to get your water.
In 1989 and again in 1990 we have had two 100 year floods back-to-back. This means that it should be about 200 years before we see a full lake again! The lake always drops considerably in the warm months. Beware! If you shop for land when the lake is full and you are told that your waterfront has about an average depth of 15 feet, you will have a dock sitting on the shore a good deal of the time
